About Elaeagnus macrophylla Thunb.

Elaeagnus macrophylla, commonly called the broad-leaved oleaster, is a species of flowering plant native to eastern Asia. It is a large, spreading evergreen shrub that reaches 4 meters (13 feet) in height and 8 meters (26 feet) in width. It bears round, glossy leaves that are silvery in color when young. In autumn, it produces heavily fragrant cream-colored flowers, which are followed by red fruit in spring. Elaeagnus × submacrophylla, which was formerly known as Elaeagnus × ebbingei, is a hybrid between E. macrophylla and E. pungens. This hybrid and its cultivars are cultivated as ornamental plants in gardens.
