Egira hiemalis is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It is distributed in western North America, ranging from British Columbia in the north down to California in the south. The wingspan of this moth is approximately 36 millimeters. In the Pacific Northwest and California, adult Egira hiemalis are active from winter through early spring. In British Columbia, adults are active later in the spring. The caterpillar larvae of this species feed on a variety of different plant species that vary based on the population's geographic range. Recorded host plants include Pseudotsuga menziesii, Abies amabilis, Abies grandis, Tsuga heterophylla, Purshia tridentata, Corylus cornuta, and Fraxinus latifolia.
