About Ectopatria aspera Walker, 1857

Ectopatria aspera (Walker, 1857) is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae. It has been recorded in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia, and New Zealand, and is classified as a migratory species. The holotype specimen of Xylina saxatilis, which is now synonymised with Ectopatria aspera, is held at Museums Victoria. This moth has a wingspan of 36 to 38 millimetres. Its forewings and thorax are whitish-grey. The hindwings are white with a broad fuscous area around the apex and termen in males, while the hindwings of females are entirely fuscous. Male individuals have a dense truncate tuft of hair on the middle tibia.
