Ecphantus quadrilobus, commonly called the crested tooth-grinder, is a species of short-horned grasshopper that belongs to the family Acrididae. It is primarily found in the Top End Australian savannas, and occurs most often in more arid regions surrounding the Barkly Tablelands. When handled, this grasshopper produces a defensive whining sound by rubbing its mandibles together. E. quadrilobus is specifically found living on solanaceous plants.
