About Echium webbii Coincy
Echium webbii Coincy is a species of flowering plant in the family Boraginaceae. This species is endemic to the Canary Islands, and is only found on the island of La Palma. It was first formally described by botanist Auguste-Henri de Coincy. Its specific epithet webbii honors botanist Philip Barker Webb. Normally, its flowers are blue and borne in numerous spikes during early summer, but hybrids with white or pink flowers sometimes occur. It reaches an average height of 100 centimetres (39 inches), with a maximum recorded height of 150 centimetres (59 inches). In its native habitat, Echium webbii is a shrub, and it does not tolerate cold conditions very well. It can be cultivated in gardens located in mild climates, and requires well-drained soil to grow successfully.
