About Dysphania incisa (Poir.)
Dysphania graveolens, commonly called fetid goosefoot, is a species of flowering plant in the Amaranthaceae family. Its native range extends from Utah, Arizona, and west Texas in the United States down to Guatemala, Peru, and northwest Argentina. It has been introduced to other areas, including the east coast of the United States, specifically Maine, Massachusetts, and New York state. This plant has many synonyms, such as Chenopodium graveolens and Dysphania incisa. In 2021, Dysphania graveolens was stated to be the correct name for this species in the genus Dysphania. However, as of 12 April 2022, Plants of the World Online accepted the unpublished name Dysphania incisa for this taxon. The Zuni people use this plant by steeping it in water and inhaling the vapor to treat headaches.
