Common Name and Taxonomy
Duellmanohyla soralia, commonly known as the Copan brook frog, is a small species of tree frog.
Size
Males grow to approximately 32 mm (1.3 in) in length, while females reach about 38 mm (1.5 in).
Head Features
This frog has a very blunt snout and prominent eyes with red irises.
Male Vocal Anatomy
Males have a single vocal sac under the throat, along with a pair of vocal slits.
Dorsal Coloration
Its dorsal surface is brown, with a distinct pattern of pale-edged green, olive, and black spots or blotches.
Ventral and Limb Coloration
The ventral surface is yellow, and the outer surface of the fore limb has a pattern of white streaks.
Distribution
This species is endemic to mountainous regions of northwest Honduras and northeast Guatemala.
Habitat and Altitude Range
It inhabits moist tropical forest and cloud forest at altitudes up to 1,570 m (5,150 ft) above sea level.
