About Ducula bicolor (Scopoli, 1786)

The pied imperial pigeon, scientifically named Ducula bicolor, is a fairly large, black-and-white (pied) pigeon species. It inhabits forests, woodlands, mangroves, plantations, and scrub habitats in Southeast Asia. Its range extends from Myanmar and Thailand, across Indonesia, and east to the Philippines—where it has the local common names camasu and balud-puti—and the Bird's Head Peninsula in New Guinea. This species is mostly found on small islands and in coastal areas. It is still locally common, so BirdLife International and the IUCN classify it as a species of least concern.
