About Dracophyllum filifolium Hook.fil.

Dracophyllum filifolium is a species of shrub or tree that is endemic to the North, South, and Stewart Islands of New Zealand. It belongs to the heath family Ericaceae, and grows on mountain slopes, saddles, and ridges. Individuals of this species reach a height of 1 to 4 meters (3 to 13 feet). It was first formally described by Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1853. Its specific epithet filifolium refers to its filament-like leaves. In 2017, an assessment using the New Zealand Threat Classification System classified this species as "Not Threatened", with an estimated total population of more than 100,000 individuals.
