About Dracaena aethiopica (Thunb.) Byng & Christenh.
Dracaena aethiopica (Thunb.) Byng & Christenh. is a species of succulent plant that is widely distributed across Southern Africa. Its specific epithet "aethiopica" refers to the species' origin in Africa. This is a highly variable species; like many other members of the Dracaena genus, it grows in desert or dry shrubland, and spreads via rhizomes. Its leaves grow in rosettes, and the plant may reach up to 70 centimetres (2.3 feet) in height. Genetically, Dracaena aethiopica is most closely related to the species Dracaena ballyi. Within Africa, this plant has been used to strengthen poisons used for hunting and fishing.
