About Doxocopa laurentia (Godart, 1823)

Doxocopa laurentia has a wingspan that reaches about 75 millimetres, or 3.0 inches. The upperside of its wings is brown. Males have a broad, metallic blue central band on this surface, while females usually have a white band in the same position, with an additional broad orange patch on the top of the forewings. The undersides of the wings are yellowish or greyish, with black markings on the forewings. Like other species in the subfamily Apaturinae, Doxocopa laurentia has a green proboscis. This species can be found in Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Uruguay.
