About Doxocopa laure (Drury, 1773)

Doxocopa laure (Drury, 1773) has a wingspan of approximately 82 millimetres (3.2 inches). Males have dark brown wing uppersides with a faint blue iridescence: this upperside features a white central band on the hindwing, and an orange patch on the forewing. Females have dark brown wing uppersides that lack iridescence, with a white median band on both wings that ends in a yellow spot at the leading edge of the hindwing. For both sexes, the underside of the hindwing is greyish and has silver iridescence. This species is present year-round in Brazil and Mexico. In southern parts of North America, such as Texas, it can be found from July to December.
