About Doryodes latistriga Lafontaine & Sullivan, 2015

Doryodes latistriga is a moth species in the family Erebidae, first described by J. Donald Lafontaine and James Bolling Sullivan in 2015. This species is found in tidal creeks and salt marshes spanning from Alabama to Louisiana in the United States. Forewing length ranges from 14.5 to 18 mm for males, and 17.5 to 20 mm for females. For individuals collected in spring and summer, the forewing ground color is yellowish white to buff with gray streaking, and the hindwing is white to whitish buff. Fall and winter specimens have darker forewings with more brown shading; their hindwings show variable brown suffusion, which is most prominent along the wing margin. This species’ longitudinal forewing stripe is broader than that of any other species in the genus Doryodes. Adult Doryodes latistriga can be seen on wing throughout the entire year.
