Donacia semicuprea Panzer, 1796 is a species of leaf beetle belonging to the subfamily Donaciinae. This species is distributed across multiple European territories: Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain including the Isle of Man, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, mainland Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, mainland Italy, the Kaliningrad region, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, mainland Norway, Poland, Romania, all of Russia except northern Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Serbia, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Regarding its ecology and habitat, adult Donacia semicuprea feed on the leaves of Glyceria maxima and Glyceria notata. Pupae of this species develop among the roots of Sparganium erectum. Larvae feed on the roots and leaves of Glyceria, also called large Manik.
