About Dolomedes albineus Hentz, 1845

Dolomedes albineus, commonly known as the white-banded fishing spider, is a species of spider belonging to the family Dolomedidae. This species is found in the United States. Like most species in the genus Dolomedes, this spider typically hunts at or within streams and ponds. It has specialized water-repellent hairs that enable it to walk on the surface of water, and it also traps an air bubble on its abdomen to allow it to dive and swim. This allows the spider to hunt tadpoles and aquatic invertebrates.
