Dolichoglottis lyallii (Hook.fil.) B.Nord. is a perennial, rhizomatous geophyte. It is a tall plant that can grow up to 50 cm in height. It produces yellow ligules up to 2.5 cm long, which make its entire capitulum (flower head) appear yellow. Its leaves are long and grass-like. This species is native to the South Island and Stewart Island.
