About Dolichoderus doriae Emery, 1887

Dolichoderus doriae is a species of ant belonging to the genus Dolichoderus. This species was first described by Emery in 1887. Colonies of this ant are found in heavily forested areas, occupying both wet and dry sclerophyll habitats across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Victoria. Nests are most commonly constructed under soil, or around the edges of ground-level stones and branches. In some cases, ants will also nest in rotten wood at the bases of trees. During warm weather, workers and their brood form clustered balls on ground surfaces, and workers forage along trails either on the ground or on trees.
