About Dodonaea hexandra F.Muell.

Dodonaea hexandra is a spreading, dioecious shrub that usually grows up to 60 cm (24 in) tall. Its leaves are simple, sessile, and most measure 4โ€“14 mm (0.16โ€“0.55 in) long and 0.5โ€“2 mm (0.020โ€“0.079 in) wide. Flowers grow singly in leaf axils or at branch ends, on a stalk 1โ€“2 mm (0.039โ€“0.079 in) long. This species has three egg-shaped sepals that are 1.5โ€“3.6 mm (0.059โ€“0.142 in) long, six stamens that are roughly the same length as the sepals, and a glabrous ovary. Flowering takes place from May to July. The fruit is a glabrous, three-angled capsule 5โ€“7 mm (0.20โ€“0.28 in) long and 5โ€“8 mm (0.20โ€“0.31 in) wide. Appendages on the fruit are often absent; if present, they are lobe-shaped, crust-like, and 0.5 mm (0.020 in) wide. This species of Dodonaea grows in tree-dominated mallee scrub, found in southern South Australia, the far south of Western Australia, and far north-western Victoria.
