About Dodonaea bursariifolia F.Muell.
Dodonaea bursariifolia F.Muell. is most often a dioecious, spreading shrub that usually grows between 0.2 and 2 metres (7.9 inches to 6 feet 6.7 inches) tall. Its leaves are simple, sessile, and range from egg-shaped to lance-shaped with the narrower end at the base, occasionally oblong. The leaves measure 8 to 35 millimetres (0.31 to 1.38 inches) long and 3 to 15 millimetres (0.12 to 0.59 inches) wide.
Flowers of this species are arranged in pairs, groups of three, or rarely in cymes. Each individual flower sits on a pedicel 1.5 to 2.6 millimetres (0.059 to 0.102 inches) long. Flowers usually have five linear or lance-shaped sepals 1.4 to 3 millimetres (0.055 to 0.118 inches) long, which drop off as the flowers mature. There are five to eight stamens, and the ovary is glabrous.
The fruit is a glabrous, oblong capsule 6.5 to 8.5 millimetres (0.26 to 0.33 inches) long and 5 to 8.5 millimetres (0.20 to 0.33 inches) wide, with four leathery wings 0.5 to 1 millimetre (0.020 to 0.039 inches) wide. This species grows in semi-arid mallee and Melaleuca uncinata plant communities. It is common in inland areas of south-western Western Australia, South Australia, north-western Victoria, and the regions west and south of Euabalong in New South Wales.
