About Dodecatheon frigidum Cham. & Schltdl.
This species, also referred to as Primula frigida, is an herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 40 centimeters (16 inches) tall. It spreads via underground rhizomes. Each individual shoot produces between 2 and 7 flowers, which are typically pink to magenta with a white center. The species is common across most of Alaska, and has also been documented growing in Yukon, the Northwest Territories, British Columbia, northern Saskatchewan, and the Chukotsk Peninsula in the Russian Far East, a region that is often incorrectly considered part of Siberia. It typically grows in moist habitats including bogs, lakeshores, riverbanks, moist meadows, and heathcliff tundras. It can be found growing on melting snow in areas on or near permafrost.
