About Disa tripetaloides (L.f.) N.E.Br.

Disa tripetaloides (L.f.) N.E.Br. is an orchid species that grows along stream edges in South Africa. It is one of the smaller species in the genus Disa, belonging to section Disa. Natural populations of this orchid occur in both winter-rainfall and summer-rainfall regions of South Africa. It is one of four Disa species commonly grown in cultivation; the other three commonly cultivated species are Disa aurata, Disa cardinalis, and Disa uniflora. Disa tripetaloides can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Asexual reproduction happens through the growth of new offshoots at the base of the plant and along its stolons.
