About Disa pygmaea Bolus

Disa pygmaea Bolus is a perennial geophyte in the genus Disa. It is a member of the fynbos vegetation community. This species is endemic to the Western Cape of South Africa, with a distribution ranging from the Cape Peninsula to Elim and Pilaarkop. After an earlier period of population decline, its total population has now stabilized. There are seven known subpopulations of the species, and some of these subpopulations are located within protected mountainous conservation areas. Disa pygmaea is currently classified as a rare species.
