About Disa fragrans Schltr.

Disa fragrans, commonly known as the fragrant disa, is a perennial geophyte that belongs to the orchid genus Disa. It is native to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Within South Africa, this species can be found in the provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Eastern Cape, and Mpumalanga. Two subspecies are currently recognized: Disa fragrans subsp. deckenii (Rchb.f.) H.P.Linder and Disa fragrans subsp. fragrans.
