About Dipsadoboa aulica (Günther, 1864)

Dipsadoboa aulica is a slender-bodied snake. Males of this species can reach a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 66 cm (26 in), while females are slightly smaller, growing up to 63 cm (25 in) in SVL. Its smooth dorsal scales are arranged in 17 rows at midbody. Dipsadoboa aulica is distributed across Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Like all species in the genus Dipsadoboa, D. aulica is oviparous. Sexually mature females lay 7 to 8 eggs in midsummer. On average, the eggs measure 25.5 x 11.5 mm (about 1 x 0.5 inch). Hatchlings have an average total length, including the tail, of 18 cm (about 7 inches).
