About Diplacus parviflorus Greene

Diplacus parviflorus, commonly called the island bush monkeyflower, is a species of flowering plant endemic to the U.S. state of California. This uncommon monkeyflower grows only on four of California’s Channel Islands: Anacapa, San Clemente, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa, and also occurs in San Diego County. This plant sometimes forms hybrids with Diplacus longiflorus. It attracts multiple species of butterflies, including the western buckeye, mylitta crescent, and variable checkerspot. This species was historically classified as part of the Mimulus aurantiacus species complex.
