About Diplacus kelloggii (Curran ex Greene) G.L.Nesom
Diplacus kelloggii is an annual herb that produces a hairy stem, which reaches a maximum height between 1 and 31 centimeters. Its oppositely arranged oval leaves grow up to 4 centimeters long, and are green, sometimes with purple undersides. The narrow, tubular base of each flower is held within a thick calyx of sepals with uneven lobes. The funnel-shaped flower grows up to 4.5 centimeters long, opening into a wide mouth, with its two upper lobes wider than the three lower lobes. The flower is reddish-purple, and darkens in the throat, where it is marked with yellow spots.
