About Diplacus jepsonii (A.L.Grant) G.L.Nesom
Diplacus jepsonii is an annual herb that produces a thin, erect stem reaching up to around 10 centimeters long. Its purple-green leaves range from linear to oval in shape, and grow up to 1.4 centimeters in length. The pinkish purple flower measures roughly one centimeter long; its five-lobed mouth has broad yellow strips and purple spotting. This species blooms from May to June. It is native to northern California, western Nevada, and southern Oregon, occurring in the Sierra Nevada and the southern Cascade Range. It grows in openings within yellow pine forest, red fir forest, and lodgepole forest habitats, at elevations between 1,220 and 2,380 metres, or 4,000 and 7,810 feet.
