About Diplacus fremontii (Benth.) G.L.Nesom

Diplacus fremontii is an annual herb that produces a thin stem, reaching 1 to 20 centimeters in height. Its oval-shaped leaves grow up to 3 centimeters long, and leaves positioned higher on the plant have a hairy texture. The tubular base of the flower is enclosed within a wide, ribbed, hairy calyx made of sepals that end in pointed lobes. The flower's corolla is reddish-purple, with a darker pink throat that has a yellow spot. Rarely, individual plants may produce completely yellow flowers. The full flower measures between 1 and 2 centimeters in length.
