About Diplacodes trivialis (Rambur, 1842)

Diplacodes trivialis is a small dragonfly species with bluish eyes. Its thorax and abdomen are greenish-yellow or olivaceous, marked with black patterns. In very old adult individuals, the entire thorax and abdomen becomes a uniform pruinosed blue. This species has clear wings that lack any apical or basal markings. Adult Diplacodes trivialis can be distinguished from other species in its genus by their creamy white anal appendages and the deep pruinescence that appears on mature individuals. This dragonfly breeds in ponds, wet rice fields, shallow lakes, drainage ditches, and similar wetland-type habitats. It is one of the most common dragonfly species found across Asia, occurring in both plains and hilly regions, and can live in both dry and wet areas.
