About Dinoptera collaris (Linnaeus, 1758)

Dinoptera collaris can reach a body length of 6–9 millimetres (0.24–0.35 inches). Its elytra are bluish-blackish, quite hairy, and marked with dense punctures. The pronotum is almost spherical, usually orange-red, and sometimes dark, with sparse punctuation. Its antennae are quite long, and its abdomen is orange-red. This species is rather similar to Acmaeops marginatus, Acmaeops pratensis and Acmaeops septentrionis. These beetles can be found across most of Europe and the Near East, specifically present in Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. This species inhabits deciduous forests, especially beech forests, and hedge rows.
