About Dimorphotheca sinuata DC.

Dimorphotheca sinuata DC., commonly known as glandular Cape marigold, Namaqualand daisy, or orange Namaqualand daisy, has the taxonomic synonym Dimorphotheca aurantiaca hort. This plant species is native to southern Africa, where it grows in western South Africa and Namibia. It very often occurs in areas that receive winter rainfall, and can also grow in sandy deserts. It is an annual species that sometimes grows over 30 cm (12 inches) tall. It flowers early in spring. Its flower heads, which contain both ray florets and disc florets, are generally yellow or orange with purple markings. This species is also widely cultivated as an ornamental plant, and has become naturalized in parts of the United States, primarily California and Arizona.
