About Dillwynia floribunda Sm.
Dillwynia floribunda Sm. is an erect shrub that typically grows 0.2 to 2.5 meters (7.9 inches to 8 feet 2.4 inches) tall, and has hairy stems. Its leaves grow crowded along the branches, are linear in shape, oval in cross section, and have a longitudinal groove on the upper surface. Leaves are 5 to 20 millimeters (0.20 to 0.79 inches) long, and are mostly glabrous. Flowers are arranged in pairs in leaf axils near the ends of branches, and often extend further down the branches. The flowers are either sessile or sit on a very short peduncle, with bracts 1 to 2 millimeters (0.039 to 0.079 inches) long, and shorter bracteoles. Sepals are 4 to 7 millimeters (0.16 to 0.28 inches) long and have a few long, fine hairs, while the standard petal is 7 to 12 millimeters (0.28 to 0.47 inches) long. The fruit of this species is a pod 4 to 7 millimeters (0.16 to 0.28 inches) long. This species of dillwynia grows mainly in heath and woodland. It occurs in coastal areas and on the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, as well as in south-eastern Queensland.
