About Dichelostemma congestum (Sm.) Kunth

Dichelostemma congestum (Sm.) Kunth is a species of flowering plant that has the common names ookow and fork-toothed ookow. This species is native to California, Oregon, and Washington. It produces a tall, thin, bare stem that is topped with a densely packed inflorescence holding six to 15 flowers. Each flower is roughly one centimeter wide and one centimeter long, and most often has six petal-like lobes that are a bright purple shade. This plant was first published under the name Brodiaea congesta in 1811.
