This species, Dichanthelium sphaerocarpon (Elliott) Gould, grows to a height of 1.5 to 5 decimeters, which is approximately 0.49 to 1.64 feet. Its leaf blades can grow up to 9.5 centimeters (approximately 3.74 inches) long, and measure between 2 and 20 millimeters wide. This species is distributed in the eastern United States, where its range extends from Massachusetts south to Florida, and west to Texas. It grows in thin woods, meadows, and ditches, and is most commonly found growing in dry, sandy soil.
