Dicentra uniflora Kellogg reaches a maximum height of 10 centimetres (4 inches). Its leaves have long stalks, are three-times compound with rounded leaflets, and each leaflet is deeply divided. The flowers have petals that range from pink to white, tinged with light brown or purple. The two outer petals are bent backward, while the inner petals are fused at the tip. This species blooms from February to June, and grows in habitats including open woods and foothills. Its seeds develop inside a capsule that measures just over 1 centimetre (0.4 inches) long.
