About Dicentra canadensis (Goldie) Walp.
Squirrel corn, scientifically named Dicentra canadensis (Goldie) Walp., has small yellow clustered bulblets that look roughly like corn kernels, finely dissected leaves, and fragrant white heart-shaped flowers. It is a spring ephemeral plant: it produces leaves and flowers in spring, then goes dormant during summer. It is native to deciduous woodlands in eastern North America, and can also be found growing among rock outcrops near mountains.
