About Diasemia reticularis Linnaeus, 1761

Diasemia reticularis Linnaeus, 1761 is a species of moth in the Crambidae family. This moth is native to the tropics, and as a migratory species, its range can extend north through Europe to the North Sea region. Its wingspan measures 18–22 mm. Across the entire species range, adult moths can be found year-round. However, in subtropical and temperate regions, adults are rarely seen outside of warm months. The larvae feed primarily on plants in the Cichorieae tribe, including Cichorium (chicories), Hieracium (hawkweeds), and Picris (oxtongues), and they also feed on Plantago (plantain herbs). Unusually, larvae have also been recorded feeding on plant refuse and dry leaves. Due to its distinctive coloration and wing pattern, the moth is sometimes called chocolat marbré, or marbled chocolate moth, in France.
