About Diaphania elegans (Möschler, 1890)
Diaphania elegans is a species of moth in the family Crambidae. It was first described by Heinrich Benno Möschler in 1890. This moth is found in Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and southern Texas. It also occurs across South America, where it has been recorded in Venezuela, Trinidad, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. For male individuals, the forewings measure 11–14 mm in length, while female forewings range from 12.5–15 mm in length. The larvae of Diaphania elegans have been documented feeding on the flowers of Cucurbita maxima.
