About Dianthus thunbergii Hooper
Dianthus thunbergii Hooper is a spreading or tufted herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 40 centimeters tall. It produces linear blue-grey leaves that measure approximately 50 millimeters long by 3 millimeters wide. Its inflorescence is usually sparsely branched, rising roughly 20 centimeters above the main plant, and carries 2 to 5 flowers. Flowers are most commonly pink, though they can sometimes be white. Each flower is 15 millimeters wide, and blooms from spring to summer, which falls between September and February. The petals of this species are shortly fimbriate to dentate. The calyx is cylindrical in shape and 20 to 30 millimeters long. The lower half of the calyx is covered by 2 to 4 pairs of bracts, which are lanceolate, with a shape ranging from acute to acuminate.
