About Dianthus acicularis Fisch. ex Ledeb.

Dianthus acicularis is a pink species that belongs to the carnation family. Its distribution is mainly concentrated in the Urals region, covering eastern European Russia and western Siberia. There are also known populations of this species in Kazakhstan, and in Xinjiang, China. This species is a diploid. Its natural resistance to carnation bacterial wilt, and its ability to be easily propagated as cell lines in laboratory settings, make it a valuable plant for breeding ornamental carnations intended for the cut flower industry.
