Dendrelaphis formosus, first formally described by Boie in 1827, is a species of snake. It is commonly known by two common names: the elegant bronzeback, and the beautiful bronzeback tree snake. This species belongs to the Colubridae snake family, and it is found in Southeast Asia. This species is native to a range that spans from southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia, to the islands of Sumatra, Borneo, and Java. It lives in lowland forests, and can be found at elevations up to 600 meters, or 2,000 feet.
