About Delphinium parishii A.Gray
Scientific name: Delphinium parishii A.Gray. This species, often referenced as Delphinium parishi, is a perennial herbaceous plant. It reaches a typical height of 17 to 60 centimeters, and rarely grows as tall as 100 centimeters. It produces palmately lobed leaves, which frequently shrivel by the time flowering begins. Flower color varies across the species' range: near Joshua Tree National Park, blooms are dark blue to purplish; in the eastern and northern parts of the desert, blooms are sky-blue; and some areas of California have pink flowering populations. Individual flowers can also be multi-colored: the true upper petals are often white, the nectar spur is usually darker blue or purple, and the sepals are typically light blue with darker tips. This plant flowers between April and June.
