About Deconica coprophila (Bull.) P.Karst.
Deconica coprophila (Bull.) P.Karst. has a hemispherical cap that reaches up to 2.5 centimetres (1 inch) wide. The cap starts red and turns orangish, and it usually features a hygrophanous blotch at its center. Its gills are adnate; they begin pale and turn purplish, with white edges. The stem grows up to 4 cm (1+1โ2 inches) long and 3 millimetres (1โ8 inch) thick, and it is darker near its base. This species produces a purplish-brown spore print. It grows on cattle dung across much of North America. Its growing season is generally July to September across most of the region, and December to May on the West Coast. While Deconica coprophila is non-toxic, it is not considered a good edible mushroom. It only contains a small amount of psilocybin, so it is not a significantly psychoactive mushroom.
