About Davus pentaloris (Simon, 1888)

Davus pentaloris has a copper-colored carapace, black legs, and a black abdomen marked with copper stripes. The number and brightness of these stripes can vary, and this species always has a distinctive spot on the abdomen near the cephalothorax. Its overall base color can range from a standard coppery tone to a more orange shade. Urticating hairs are present on the abdomen, which the spider may kick into the air when it perceives a threat. Visible morphological variations exist that can help distinguish separate candidate species from D. pentaloris; these variations include dark markings on the carapace, and pale coloration or markings on the legs.
