Daucus pusillus Michx. is a species of wild carrot that has the common names American wild carrot and rattle-snake-weed. Its Latin species name translates to "little carrot" or "tiny carrot". It looks similar to other wild carrot species and subspecies, and bears umbels of white or pinkish flowers. It produces small, edible taproots similar to carrots. This species should not be confused with Conium maculatum, which is highly poisonous. It has an amphitropical distribution, occurring across both North America and South America. In North America, it is a common plant found in the Southern United States and along the west coast, ranging from Baja California to British Columbia. In South America, it grows in southern Brazil, northern and central Argentina, and Chile. It typically grows in rocky or sandy sites.
