Dasyophthalma rusina, first described by Latreille & Godart in 1824, is a butterfly species that belongs to the family Nymphalidae. This butterfly can be found in Brazil, ranging from the state of Bahia to the state of Santa Catarina. It inhabits high altitude areas at approximately 1,200 meters in elevation. The larvae of Dasyophthalma rusina feed on four types of plants: Geonoma schottiana, Bactris tomentosa, Euterpe edulis, and species within the Bambusa genus.
