About Dargida procinctus Grote, 1873

Dargida procinctus, commonly known as the olive green cutworm or girdler moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its scientific name is Dargida procinctus Grote, 1873. This species occurs in a geographic range extending from Wisconsin and Manitoba west to British Columbia, and south as far as California and Arizona. Adults have a wingspan of approximately 40 mm. In the northern portion of its range, adult moths are active in flight from August to September; flight activity occurs much earlier in the southern parts of the species' range. The larvae of this moth feed on a variety of grasses, with Phalaris arundinacea as their primary host.
