About Dampiera lavandulacea Lindl.
Dampiera lavandulacea Lindl. is an upright or ascending perennial plant that grows up to 70 cm (28 in) high. It has ribbed, smooth stems. Its leaves are stalkless, oblong to elliptic in shape, with rolled-under edges. They measure 9โ21 mm (0.35โ0.83 in) long and 2โ11 mm (0.079โ0.433 in) wide; the upper leaf surface is smooth, while the lower surface is densely covered in short, matted white hairs. Leaf margins are either smooth, or occasionally have a small number of teeth. Flowers are borne singly in lower leaf axils, or in clusters of up to 3 in upper leaf axils. They have 0.5โ1 mm (0.020โ0.039 in) long pedicels, and linear to oblong bracts that measure 4โ7 mm (0.16โ0.28 in) long. The corolla is 10โ15 mm (0.39โ0.59 in) long, usually blue-lavender with a white centre, and its wings are 2.5โ3 mm (0.098โ0.118 in) wide. Flowering occurs in July, or from September to November. The fruit is egg-shaped and grows up to 4 mm (0.16 in) long. This widespread Dampiera species is native to south-western Western Australia, where it grows from coastal areas to the Eastern Goldfields. It occurs on sand in heath and woodland habitats.
