About Cyrtophora cicatrosa (Stoliczka, 1869)

This species is a small spider with long legs. Its body is green with yellowish markings, and it can turn black with white and green markings when disturbed. It is often found resting upside down. It builds very strong webs that do not contain sticky fibers. Webs are three-dimensional, complex dome-shaped structures that are most commonly built between the branches of thorny plants, though they can be constructed in many other locations. The center of the dome forms a mountain-like shape, and the dome is connected to its support by numerous lines. Because they stay in their webs, these spiders do not move far from the center of the dome, where they hang upside down. Chains of green, bean-shaped egg sacs are commonly found on these webs.
