About Cyptotrama chrysopepla (Berk. & M.A.Curtis) Singer
Cyptotrama chrysopepla, commonly called the golden coincap, is a small mushroom species with a bright golden yellow, dry cap and stalk. The color of its gills ranges from white to yellow, and it grows on wood. The cap is shaped from convex to flat, and is often lined or furrowed near its margin; the cap surface can be dull, powdery, or scaly. The gills are either broadly attached to the stalk, or extend down the length of the stalk. This species produces a white spore print. Fruiting bodies can occur in small groups or in large numbers. The edibility of Cyptotrama chrysopepla is currently unknown.
